Draft — not yet legally reviewed
This text describes how PlayVerdicts works today. It is a template and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer, and every bracketed field filled in, before the site launches publicly.
What PlayVerdicts is
PlayVerdicts helps you decide whether a video game is worth buying. It combines publicly available information with rule-based calculations and, where marked, an editor's opinion. It is provided for general information only.
Verdicts are opinions, not guarantees
- A verdict is a purchase recommendation, not a review score. Rule-based verdicts are calculated automatically and labelled Rule-based; only entries labelled Verified were approved by a named editor.
- Information can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Prices, reviews and patch history change constantly.
- Always check the price and the details on the store page before you buy. You are responsible for your own purchasing decisions.
- Demo content is labelled as such and must not be relied on.
Third-party data and trademarks
Game names, logos, artwork and trailers belong to their respective owners and appear only to identify the games. Store data comes from Steam; price history is provided by IsThereAnyDeal. PlayVerdicts is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Valve, Steam, IsThereAnyDeal, GOG or any game publisher.
Links and affiliate relationships
The site links to external stores and services that we do not control. Today the store links are plain links. If affiliate links are ever added they will be disclosed clearly, and they will never influence a verdict or a price comparison.
Accounts
An account is optional and uses a one-time sign-in link sent to your email address, so you are responsible for keeping that mailbox secure. You can delete your account at any time from the account page. We may suspend or remove accounts that abuse the service, for example by flooding the sign-in form. How we handle your data is described on the privacy page.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the site: no attempts to disrupt it, to overload it with automated requests or to copy it wholesale. PlayVerdicts's own text and design are protected; third-party content stays with its owners.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, the site is provided “as is” and the operator is not liable for losses arising from reliance on it, including purchases made on the basis of a verdict. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. [Have this clause adapted to the governing law by a lawyer.]
